 uring locals making a difference in sustainability and a free vegetarian l
 unch! \n\nWe kick off the fall series with "Building a Bikeable Louisvill
 e: LouDOT’s work growing and supporting cycling across Jefferson County,
 " This presentation highlights how Bike Louisville, a program within Louis
 ville Metro Department of Transportation, is working to make cycling a mai
 nstream and viable mode of transportation by fostering partnerships with l
 ocal nonprofits, advocacy groups, community riders, and city leaders.\n\nA
 ttendees will learn how collaborative engagement, public outreach, and the
  development of low-stress bicycle facilities are helping create a safer, 
 more connected network that encourages people of all ages and abilities to
  ride. The session will also explore the common challenges that cities lik
 e Louisville face when expanding bicycle infrastructure, including funding
 , public perception, maintenance, and interagency coordination, while shar
 ing lessons learned that can help advocates advance their own bike-friendl
 y initiatives.\n\nOur speaker will be Chris Butz, the Program Manager for 
 Bike Louisville at Louisville Metro Department of Transportation, a role h
 e has held since 2023. A Louisville native and daily bike commuter, Chris 
 is passionate about making bicycling a safe, practical, and accessible tra
 nsportation option for people of all ages and abilities.\n\nChris earned h
 is Master of Urban Planning from the University of Louisville in 2020 and 
 began his career in transportation planning with the Transit Authority of 
 River City (TARC) before joining Metro. He believes that streets should be
  designed with vulnerable road users at the forefront, and he works to adv
 ance policies, partnerships, and infrastructure that support a more connec
 ted and bikeable Louisville. When he's not advocating for better streets, 
 Chris enjoys spending weekends with his wife and their toddler exploring t
 he Louisville Zoo and Metro Parks.\n\nThe Sustainability Council’s EcoR
 eps program is designed to move students, faculty & staff beyond talk to 
 action for a more sustainable UofL! We provide basic training & resources,
  service opportunities, and leadership positions as a point-person & peer-
 to-peer advocate for sustainability. More info on EcoReps website.
